Please tell us about your diversity and inclusion initiative and the underlying problem that sparked the initiative.

Since its inception over a decade ago, Hopkins & Carley's (H&C) DEI Committee has looked to directly impact issues affecting the underrepresentation of selected groups within the legal profession. We use our smaller size to be nimble and innovative in our approach, often relying on direct contact with individuals well before they enter the legal profession. Our small group volunteers start with the heavy lifting and then use full-firm participation to create a force-multiplying effect. The result is a small but tangible impact on a systemic problem plaguing our profession.
