Elon Musk's SpaceX sued the California Coastal Commission and its commissioners on Tuesday in Los Angeles federal court for allegedly voting against a proposal to expand the number of its rocket launches on the basis of Musk's political views.

Tyler Welti, Colin Vandell and Mitchell Mirviss of Venable filed the complaint for declaratory and injunctive relief against the state agency, which regulates land and water use along California's coastline, on behalf of Space Exploration Technologies in U.S District Court for the Central District of California. The commission's executive director, Kate Huckelbridge, and 13 other commissioners are listed as co-defendants.
