In a victory for the plaintiff bar, arbitration provider JAMS on Friday made the surprise announcement that it would no longer enforce contract clauses that forbid consumer and employment class actions. JAMS General Counsel John "Jay" Welsh said the decision was made out of concern that the prohibitions unfairly curtail the rights of consumers and employees involved in an increasingly large number of class action arbitration claims.
