Twenty-nine year old Dexter Williams, accompanied by cousin Jerry Franklin, arrived from out of town and went to the home of his ex-wife, Cora Drake. Cora Drake was not home, but her 18-year old son David Drake was there, as was her four-year old son James. Also present were various friends of David Drake, all of whom were 18 to 21 years old.
Over a period of a couple of days, Williams terrorized the residents of the Drake home. He convinced them to attempt robberies with him, beat one or more of them, and threatened to rape 19-year old Rosanna Beckham. Williams convinced Rosanna to go out on the street for him and offer herself as a prostitute in order to get money for him.
