Arguing before the California Supreme Court can be daunting, especially for first-timers who don’t realize they’ll likely face a buzz saw of questions one second after saying, “May it please the court.”

From that point on some lawyers are completely lost, struggling to keep pace as the seven justices batter them with query after query, often not letting them finish an answer for a good 30 minutes.
