SACRAMENTO — As California prepared to furlough thousands of state workers Friday, state lawyers learned quickly that not every J.D. is created equal around the Capitol.
The state public defender’s office on K Street will close its doors today. Every lawyer, except those with business or court dates that can’t be rescheduled, will be expected to take the day off without pay. Those that must work will still have to take the furlough at a later date.
