“May you live in interesting times” goes an ancient curse. It has been a challenge at times, but always a rewarding privilege, to lead the legal profession these past 12 months during some very interesting times, indeed.
Though every American Bar Association president can set priorities for his or her leadership year, unforeseen issues invariably develop. The economic crisis resulting from last fall’s financial meltdown has been paramount during the 2008-09 bar year and is certain to continue being so.
