SAN FRANCISCO — The Campaign for California Families will have to pay about $12,000 in court costs racked up during its opposition to same-sex marriage, a state appeal court ruled in an unpublished opinion this week.

The Sacramento-based group had fought the court costs ordered by San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard Kramer, arguing that the appellate courts had ruled it lacked standing. That rendered it more like an amicus curiae, rather than a party, the Campaign contended.
