BOSTON — Managing legal departments in tight economic times was a recurring theme during the opening day of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s annual meeting in Boston.

Meeting attendees tackled the issue head-on in sessions about economic constraints facing in-house departments. Economic issues also surfaced in sessions about practice areas such as employment law. Controlling outside counsel costs now tops the list of in-house counsels’ concerns, according to a newly released ACC survey.
