SACRAMENTO — The Judicial Council on Friday authorized spending $62 million to continue work on a new court computer system this fiscal year, despite ongoing criticism that the money would be better spent keeping courthouses open.
Judicial branch leaders said the money, combined with $27 million to support early prototypes of the California Court Case Management System, is far less than the $281 million originally budgeted. But it’s vital, they said, to keeping the long-planned network on life support during tough budget times.
