SAN FRANCISCO — The city of Anaheim can forge ahead with a lawsuit against online travel companies after a state appeal court found this week that there was nothing wrong with the city retaining outside counsel on a contingency fee basis in the litigation.

In a published opinion Tuesday, Fourth District Justice Raymond Ikola found that contingency fee deals between government lawyers and outside counsel are usually appropriate.
