The United States Supreme Court reversed a judgment of the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The court held that alleged inaccuracies in the DNA evidence presented at trial did not render a guilty verdict so unreliable as to be subject to challenge under Jackson v. Virginia, 443 U. S. 307 (1979).

Troy Brown was charged in Nevada with raping nine-year old Jane Doe. The attack occurred in Jane’s bedroom at night and she was unable to see her attacker. She nonetheless was able to testify that he “stunk real, real bad” of “cologne, or some beer or puke or something.”
