Franklin Resources Inc. is a 60-year-old investment management company that operates as Franklin Templeton Investments. Based in San Mateo, the company manages $523 billion in assets and is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (BEN). It has 7,700 employees and offices in 30 countries worldwide. The company, which focuses on mutual funds and other pooled investments, reported revenues of $367.4 million for the quarter ending Sept. 30, 2009, up from $300.5 million during the same period in 2008. Twenty-five are based in the company’s San Mateo office, while four each are based in New York and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The head of the firm’s European legal team is based in London, while its Asian chief works from Hong Kong. Attorneys are also posted in Singapore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Edinburgh, Paris, Luxembourg and Frankfurt. Another attorney in Toronto reports directly to the company’s business group.
