SACRAMENTO — Chief Justice Ronald George on Tuesday appointed 10 new members to the Judicial Council, including a former judicial appointments secretary and an ex-president of the California Judges Association.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Burt Pines, the chief judge vetter for Gov. Gray Davis, was named to a voting seat on the council. Pines’ three-year term starts on Sept. 15.
