SACRAMENTO — Judges around the state are nervously watching Yolo County, where local leaders are considering whether to stop providing county-funded benefits to their superior court jurists.
Some Yolo supervisors say that at a time when draconian budget cuts have forced them to lay off dozens of employees and shutter local offices it makes no sense to offer approximately $5,000 a year in extra perks to judges who already receive a full range of employment benefits from the state.
