SAN FRANCISCO — Intel Corp. is moving beyond computer chips and into the cell phone business.
The world’s largest semiconductor maker announced today that it’s acquiring Infineon Technologies’ Wireless Solutions business for about $1.4 billion in cash. Infineon’s chips are used in smartphones such as Apple Inc.’s iPhone.
