SAN FRANCISCO — Sharp Corporation, Japan’s biggest maker of solar panels, has agreed to buy San Francisco-based Recurrent Energy in an all-cash deal worth up to $305 million.
Sharp is buying the solar-power developer to expand its presence in the U.S. solar panel market and build solar power plants that will sell electricity to utilities and commercial customers. Recurrent Energy, a Hudson Clean Energy Partners portfolio company, will keep its name, and operate as a subsidiary of Sharp.
