KB Home former Chief Executive Bruce Karatz plans to appeal a final judgment against him that includes a sentence of probation and a $1 million fine for his role in a criminal stock option backdating case.

Karatz’s lawyer, appellate specialist Sri Srinivasan, a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of O’Melveny & Myers, filed a notice of appeal on Nov. 23 with the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. His opening brief is due on March 28.
