SAN FRANCISCO — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed 18 trial court judges on Thursday, including members of his staff and three prosecutors from Northern California.

Christopher Krueger, the governor’s chief deputy legal affairs secretary, will sit as a judge in Sacramento County Superior Court. A former senior state assistant attorney general, Krueger, 45, is a Democrat. He gained notoriety a few years ago as Attorney General Jerry Brown’s point man on same-sex marriage .
