SAN FRANCISCO — Gov. Jerry Brown has tapped Jonathan Renner as his legal affairs secretary and announced today that James Humes, his former chief deputy at the attorney general’s office, will take on the role of executive secretary.

Renner, 40, was senior assistant AG for government law under Brown. He started at the AG’s office in 2000 and was a lawyer at Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard in Sacramento before that. The salary for the legal affairs secretary job is $147,900.
