SAN FRANCISCO — Google Inc. has hired the Republican’s antitrust counsel for the House Judiciary Committee as the Internet giant faces government scrutiny over a proposed merger with a travel data firm.
Stewart Jeffries will start his new job as Google’s competition policy counsel on Feb. 7, a spokesman confirmed Friday.
