SACRAMENTO — On the eve of the first legislative hearing for the Trial Court Rights Act, the bill’s author has proposed significant changes in an apparent effort to win passage.
Majority Floor Leader Charles Calderon, D-Montebello, has asked the Assembly Judiciary Committee to drop language in the bill giving trial courts specific powers, including the authority to hire executives, to set hours and to reject the installation of branch computer networks, according to a committee analysis.
