SAN FRANCISCO — In a public corruption case that has languished in the California Supreme Court for five years, the justices today didn’t sound inclined to take it easy on public officials.

At the center of the case which was the oldest fully briefed case pending in the court is Sutter County auditor-controller Robert Stark, who was indicted in 2005 for allegedly misusing public funds.
