SAN FRANCISCO — A colorful Los Angeles federal judge who has repeatedly seen his cases snatched and reversed by the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals over his conduct got that court’s reluctant approval today.
A three-judge panel found that U.S. District Judge Manuel Real’s repeated rebukes of defense counsel and pointed questioning of witnesses was out of line but not unconstitutional.
