The Third Appellate District reversed an order. The court held that a county was required to pay for emergency out-of-county ambulance service that was provided to a county resident enrolled in the medically-indigent services program through which the county met its statutory obligations.

Beverly Fuchino was an indigent resident of Sacramento County who had severe diabetes. Fuchino received medical care, including medication and a diet regimen, through the medically-indigent services program (CMISP) of the county. The CMISP was the program through which the county fulfilled its statutory obligations under Welf. & Inst. Code §17000.
