Genomic Health Inc. aims to improve the precision of cancer diagnoses through the development and commercialization of genomic-based clinical laboratory services. Its lead product, the Oncotype DX breast cancer test, examines 21 different genes in tissue samples taken from a woman’s breast tumor to assess her chances of being helped by chemotherapy and her odds of having a recurrence. Founded in 2000, the Redwood City-based company (Nasdaq: GHDX) has more than 500 employees worldwide and reported revenues of $175 million in 2010, up from $147 million in 2009, and profit of $4 million.

Kathy Hibbs joined Genomic Health in late 2009 as senior vice president and general counsel. For the previous eight years she served as a senior vice president and general counsel at Monogram Biosciences, responsible for legal and regulatory matters. From 2000 to 2001, Hibbs was general counsel of telecom company Multitude Inc., and before that she spent four years as corporate counsel at Varian Associates Inc. and director of legal operations at spinoff Varian Medical Systems.
