The Third Appellate District affirmed a judgment. In the published portion of its opinion, the court held that a defendant’s pouring gasoline on his girlfriend and setting her, and consequently her apartment, on fire was a single course of criminal conduct that entitled the apartment owner to restitution for fire damage.
Joseph Verni quarreled with his girlfriend Michelle B. Later, when Michelle was sleeping, Verni poured gasoline on her and set her aflame. Michelle was severely burned. Automatic sprinklers eventually extinguished the fire, but the apartment was also damaged.
