Begun as an open source project at Netscape in 1998, Mozilla Corp.’s downloadable products have become among the most-used browsers in the world. Launched in 2002, its Firefox browser is estimated to have a 30 percent market share. The nonprofit has 400 employees and is based in Mountain View. It derives its income from revenue-sharing agreements with search engines like Google when the Firefox browser directs searches to search engine advertisers. An estimated 20,000 to 30,000 volunteers regularly help the company update, debug and develop its open source code.

Harvey Anderson, who began his career as a network design engineer in the 1980s, joined the company in 2008 and serves as vice president for business affairs, general counsel and corporate secretary.
