The California Supreme Court affirmed a decision of the court of appeal. The court held that a parent had no standing to challenge a dependency court’s placement order that was entered following the termination of parental rights.
Upon petition by the Kings County Human Services Agency, the dependency court adjudged infant K.C. a juvenile dependent child and removed him from parental custody. K.C.’s paternal grandparents requested that he be placed with them. After conducting an assessment, the county denied the request, finding that placing K.C. with his grandparents would not be in his best interests. The grandparents petitioned under Welf. & Inst. Code §388 to have K.C. placed in their home.
