Howrey tussled with its health insurer in bankruptcy court Monday over employee medical claims that have gone unpaid since shortly after the firm disbanded earlier this year.

At issue is between $1.5 million and $4.4 million in outstanding claims including some for services incurred in March, while employees were still paying for health care according to attorneys who appeared before Judge Dennis Montali in San Francisco today.
