SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco Superior Court leaders Wednesday released a slightly improved forecast for their court’s fiscal health. But the rosier projection won’t eliminate the need to lay off 200 workers, close 25 courtrooms and cut clerk hours by Oct. 3, leaders said.
The court ended the 2011-12 fiscal year on June 30 with reserves of $4.6 million, an improvement over the previous fiscal year’s fund balance of roughly $280,000. The Judicial Council in July also offset some of the state’s $350 million cut to trial courts, meaning San Francisco’s share of the reduction dropped from $6.3 million to $4.8 million.
