SAN FRANCISCO — The Judicial Council on Friday rejected a Bar Association of San Francisco proposal to generate money for cash-strapped courts — San Francisco Superior Court in particular — by levying appearance fees on lawyers in complex civil cases.
But Administrative Office of the Courts’ executives announced a possible solution to San Francisco’s financial woes by proposing a $2.6 million aid package to the court. San Francisco has proposed laying off 175 employees and closing 25 courtrooms.
