San Diego-based Entropic Communications Inc. has developed a niche in the multimedia entertainment business. Already used in tens of millions of set-top boxes worldwide, Entropic’s MoCA (multimedia over coaxial cable) technology uses the cables that already connect to people’s televisions to stream multiple feeds of high-definition video throughout the home, powering digital video recorders, Blu-ray players and Internet-connected game consoles. Entropic’s products allow consumers to watch any programming in any room.

General Counsel Lance Bridges said that when he first came to Entropic from Cooley in 2007, he didn’t fully appreciate the intense competitiveness within the semiconductor industry, even though the company had been a client.
