SACRAMENTO — Just in time for the 2012 election season, Gov. Jerry Brown has signed legislation aimed at protecting sitting judges from faux write-in campaigns.

A write-in campaign may never materialize, but an incumbent judge can’t know that for certain. So he or she has to at least consider launching a campaign and raising money.
