Since 1883, the San Francisco Giants have survived life on both coasts to become one of the most storied names in baseball. Founded as the New York Gothams in 1883, they were renamed the Giants two years later. Since then, the Giants have won 21 National League pennants and six World Series titles. Last year, the won its first World Series since moving to San Francisco in 1958 — and Willie Mays was at the White House when President Obama feted the team last month, calling the players “characters with character.”

Structurally, the team is known as San Francisco Baseball Associates L.P., led by managing general partner and CEO William Neukom — himself a former general counsel at Microsoft Corp. — and team President Laurence Baer.
