The court of appeals affirmed a judgment of the district court. The court held that the Fair Housing Act was not violated by the preferential treatment was accorded to Christians in a residential drug-treatment program and a homeless shelter that were operated by a not-for-profit Christian group.
Boise Rescue Mission Ministries (BRMM) was a non-profit Christian organization that operated a residential drug-treatment program that provided an “intensive, Christ-based residential recovery program for people with chemical dependency or alcoholism.” The BRMM also operated two homeless shelters to “return the poor, needy and homeless to society as self-sufficient, productive citizens.”
