SAN FRANCISCO — Senior Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Robert Boochever, a former Alaska Supreme Court justice elevated to the circuit in 1980 by President Carter, has died. He was 94.

Boochever was found in his favorite easy chair on Sunday. His family suspects he passed peacefully in his sleep, the court’s announcement said.
