SACRAMENTO — Rochelle East may be the only person who equates the rush of parachuting with the thrill of crafting legal arguments.

“This is almost as fun as jumping out of a plane,” said East, a military veteran who assumed the role of chief deputy attorney general last month. “This is certainly not dull. And you know, intellectually, there are all these issues. Probably the best part of the job is these amazing issues that come through this office. They’re just fascinating.”
