Interim Executive Director M. Stacey Hawver has accepted the permanent leadership position of executive director of the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County. Hawver joined Legal Aid in 1990 as a staff attorney and previously served as executive director from 2002 to 2009. She received her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1987.

Charles Kao has joined Kaye Scholer as special counsel in its Palo Alto office. Previously at Sedgwick, Kao handled a wide range of corporate transactions for clients in the software, Internet, telecom, semiconductor and cleantech sectors. He graduated from Cornell Law School in 1994.
