The Fourth Appellate District affirmed trial court orders granting petitions for injunctions. The court held that a trial court must receive relevant hearsay evidence when such evidence is presented in a hearing on a petition for an injunction against workplace violence.

Kaiser Foundation Hospitals filed two petitions seeking injunctions barring Jeff Wilson from committing acts of violence or making threats of violence against two of its employees, Arlene Gibson and Marites Arendon. Wilson’s wife, Diane Younge-Barnes, was a former Kaiser employee who had been terminated some three months earlier. Kaiser brought its petitions pursuant to Code Civ. Proc. §527.8, which authorizes employers to seek injunctions preventing workplace violence against employees.
