The California Supreme Court reversed a court of appeal judgment and remanded. The court held that, where applicable, sentence enhancements may properly be imposed for both firearm use and infliction of great bodily injury.
Amir Ahmed shot and injured his girlfriend. He was tried before a jury and found guilty of assault with a firearm. The jury also found true the enhancement allegations that Ahmed personally used a firearm in the commission of the offense and also personally inflicted great bodily injury. The trial court sentenced Ahmed accordingly.
