SAN FRANCISCO — Think the wait in the line to see the San Francisco Superior civil file clerk is long? Try filing by mail. Court officials say the clerk’s office is currently 56 court days, or about 11 calendar weeks, behind in processing mailed filings.

“The notion that there is, on somebody’s desk, a huge pile of mail that they’re just never getting around to is kind of shocking,” said Dana Sack, a partner at Oakland’s Sack Rosendin.
