Reed Smith has received the National Legal Aid and Defender Association’s Beacon of Justice Award. The firm was honored for its five-year pro bono representation of Stanmore Cooper in the privacy case FAA v. Cooper, which S.F. appellate group leader Raymond Cardozo argued before the U.S. Supreme Court last year.

The Juvenile Court Judges of California, a section of the California Judges Association, presented its Annual Wilmont Sweeney Juvenile Court Judge of the Year Award to Judge Katherine Lucero of Santa Clara County Superior Court. For the past 5 1/2 years Lucero has sat as the supervising judge of the Juvenile Dependency Court. She received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1989.
