SAN FRANCISCO — In the statewide showdown over the redrawing of new political lines, the California Supreme Court on Tuesday struggled with whether to put on hold new electoral maps as the clock ticks on the June primary election.
The GOP worries the new maps could give Democrats a supermajority in the state Senate, allowing Democrats to raise taxes without Republican votes.
