Sergio Garcia, chair of Reed Smith’s global technology transactions team, is leaving the firm’s San Francisco office to become the first general counsel at medical device maker Zeltiq Aesthetics Inc. His new job starts March 5.

“It was hard to pass up the opportunity to serve as the first general counsel of a very dynamic growth-stage public medical technology company,” Garcia said. “It’s a global platform and it’s very exciting proprietary technology.”
