SAN FRANCISCO — Officials are expected to approve a pilot project Tuesday aimed at providing indigent litigants with lawyers for certain civil matters. The project would be the first of its kind in the country, says the initiative’s organizer.
“I think it will undoubtedly pass,” said Supervisor Sean Elsbernd. Supervisors David Chiu, Jane Kim, Scott Wiener, Christina Olague, Mark Farrell and David Campos are all sponsors of the project, and the broad range of support means it’s a shoo-in, said Elsbernd. He, however, will be voting no.
