SACRAMENTO — Insisting that trial courts “have largely been held harmless from budget reductions” in recent years, Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday unveiled a revised 2012-13 budget that would slash $544 million in funding to the judicial branch.

Brown said he also wants a working group to scrutinize court workloads, staffing standards and other “relevant data” used to gauge “a more uniform and efficient administrative system for the judiciary.”
