SAN FRANCISCO — Twenty-seven years after its creation, the Sixth District Court of Appeal is about to have its first Latino justice.

Governor Jerry Brown on Friday nominated Santa Clara County counsel Miguel Marquez to the San Jose-based court. If confirmed he will succeed Justice Richard McAdams, who retired in the fall of 2010. One additional seat on the seven-member court remains vacant.
