Senator Noreen Evans, D-Santa Rosa, chairs the state Senate’s Judiciary Committee. The lawyer, who still practices in Sonoma County, is expected to play a key role in negotiating the legislative response to Governor Jerry Brown’s revised budget proposal. The May 14 spending plan called for $544 million in spending cuts to the judiciary, including a $300 million sweep from trial court reserves. Evans recently sat down with The Recorder to talk about the budget.
