SAN FRANCISCO Google Inc. lost its bid Tuesday to consolidate in the Northern District eight proposed class actions that accuse the search engine of illegally tracking users’ activity through the Safari web browser.

And other companies involved in the controversy are also located near the district, the panel added. Twelve potentially related actions have been filed in various districts and could also be tag-along cases.
